Honda CR-V. 50 states commercial.

we love road trips at notion:creative. we find inspiration in new culture, new food and new people, so you can imagine our excitement when last summer we were given the opportunity to be involved in a television commercial — for the new 2012 Honda CR-V — based around the notion of a girl who wants to visit all 50 states, as part of their leap list campaign.
as it turns out, there is an art director in LA who follows our blog and likes our style. and when his latest commercial concept required original t-shirt designs for each of the 50 states, he thought we might be the ladies for the job.
we said yes. of course. duh. although not only was the project large with a fast turn around, but our designs had to meet numerous criteria in the visibility, legal and design realms. good thing we love thinking through a challenge! we were hired to create a t-shirt for each state in the U.S., but to be true to the storyline of one girl choosing souvenir tees, they needed to look eclectic and all in-line with our girl’s taste. with the help of the art director and creative team, we decided to design tees that would be anywhere between cute, cheesy, hip and vintage; styles that an on-trend, young female traveler would add to her wardrobe. make sense? are you ready to see it?
