a master word wrangler with the old school know how of an Adidas shell-toe and the soft and savvy sensibility of a kitten heel, molly jackel is comfortable in either shoe [please note: she prefers them in blue]. this versatility allows her to target her audience and take on a voice they respond to resulting in a clear message.

one of the questions we ask our clients when we are working on their marketing is, if your business were a shoe what kind would it be? molly jackel’s response?! she couldn’t decide between an Adidas shell-toe and a kitten heel. clearly she is shoe obsessed but her answer illustrated to us how versatile her skills are, which became the jumping off point for us as we talked her through her branding and marketing project. see how we work? you didn’t think that question was legit did ya?! bam.

molly t. jackel–the t. is short for ‘the’, true story–is jackel media. she is a wordsmith. she writes, edits and produces for multimedia platforms. she is the notion:creative go to girl for all things wordy; as well as for shoe input, food reviews and a hip hop dance partner. we have been guiding her through focusing her many skills into a clear definition of her business so that we could apply it to her new branding and a marketing plan. molly is small but she has a big personality. and big hair. and her sharp wit and hilarious take on life make you hang on her every word as she flows from one story to the next.

with all these things in mind, we set out to updated her branding to convey her experience and professionalism but also let potential clients know that she is approachable and fun. she loves brown and blue so we stuck with that palette and introduced the yellow. the word tree describing her services and specialties was born from sentence diagrams, flow charts and subway maps [molly is a transplant from NY–which we're sure is where much of her "charm" comes from]. so we used these organizational graphic element to illustrate what she has to offer.

it is hard to see in the photo but she specializes in writing copy about food, drink and culture, which means she has left her mark on many a cookbook, taco truck reviews, live music recap, website copy and food and wine labels. it is very possible that you have a few books on your shelf that have been edited by her or that you may have read one of her smart write ups for The Bohemain on music, food or lifestyle. basically, she knows about all kinds of cool kid stuff and has opinions to go with that knowledge. funny ones.

at notion:creative our approach to design always includes considering the copy. what is this ‘copy’ i keep referring to?! good question, thanks for asking. copy is written material, so when thinking about copy that is associated with a business, this would include things like tag lines, slogans, mission statement, bios, ad text, blog posts, brochure/newsletter text, food and wine label text, etc.

when developing a brand we always emphasize the importance of using a professional copywriter to implement and maintain a consistent voice and thread that runs through your copy createing a flow and ease for your audience and keeping them engaged. Our philosophy on copy goes like this: be clear and concise but be understood. use it to teach your market that your services are essential.

fun fact: molly was a huge part of creating our gluten free cookbook. she wrote, edited and tested recipes, ate leftovers and tried to get her old thermos into all my shots at the photo shoots. she’s very pushy but thank gawd for her. she has also written a few posts for the gluten free lab, this one in particular will give you an idea of how her amazing brain works and how much she loves popcorn.

should you require her expertise, and we HIGHLY recommend her, you can reach her at molly[at]jackelmedia[dot]com or through us. you could also call her but her phone is often drying in a bag of rice so emailing her might warrant a faster response. we love her crazy ways and her word whispering abilities.
