there is a store in healdsburg, right around the corner from n:c headquarters called 14feet. it’s pretty much my own personal heaven in there. i want to own every piece of furniture and art that passes through their doors AND the owners are super cool folk to top it all off. 14feet specializes in one-of-a-kind vintage industrial and mid-century pieces. their vintage collection includes furniture, pottery, lighting, textiles and found objects. they also feature quirky collections from emerging artists.
14feet is currently showcasing the work of artist Ray Degischer of Country Industrial. they are hosting an afternoon event tomorrow–Saturday, December 4–from 4pm to 7pm to feature his line of vases, lighting, mirrors and furniture.
Ray spends his days rummaging through heaps of scrap metal and old wood piles looking for that perfect piece of junk. once found he will take it back to his shop and breath new life into it. turning a scratched up pipe into a beautiful new vase or creating a stylish coffee table out of a discarded hardwood shipping crate are examples of the many “re-creations” he may make. if you get hearts-in-your-eyes for old metal things like i do then i guarantee you will dig Ray’s work. it’s totally rad and i don’t use that term lightly.
speaking of totally rad…let’s talk about notion:creative’s client, Kevin Rogers. owner and winemaker for Nico Wines.
Kevin is very serious about wine. he will put you in a full nelson if you don’t try his Dolcetto. true story.
Kevin will also be at 14feet tomorrow–sans lucha mask–pouring his delicious Dolcetto for you to sip and savor while you drool over all the scrap metal goods.

And while we’re on the subject of Kevin, he and his sidekick John own Merchants & Millers [also clients of notion:creative] and they produce high-end olive oil, vinegar and sea salt. their products make delicious holiday gifts. ooh, you could pair the extra virgin olive oil with the pomegranate vinegar for a hint of holiday color in a gift basket. just sayin’.
so let’s recap. your to-do list for tomorrow looks like this…
head to healdsburg mid afternoon. get coffee at the flying goat. walk across the street to 14feet and soak in all the eye candy in the form of art, furniture and notion:creative’s label art AND why not pick up some local, handmade uniqueness to wow your friends and family with as gifts this year…your options are any of Ray’s art, anything else from 14feet or a bottle or six of Nico Wine. then you can dine at one of the fabulous culinary establishments that the ol’ burg has to offer. what a lovely day i just planned for you. enjoy!
14feet is located at 325 center street, across from the flying goat. contact them at 707.433.3391 or info[at]14feet [dot]net
